Developed jointly by CineRegio, Ecoprod and Green Film, this initiative brings together public institutions, industry professionals and experts to define a shared, operational and adaptable reference for responsible animation production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ANiMPACT standards will serve as a basis to certify 2D and 3D animation projects (films, series, commercials,&#8230;). ANiMPACt does not certify companies. The certification will be audited by an independent third party, approved and registered by Ecoprod and Green Film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Announced at the MIFA in Annecy in 2025, the ANiMPACT standards were developed in three stages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tally.so\/r\/31yKGO\">Common statement:<\/a><\/strong> stakeholders across the industry were encouraged to show their support and shape the future of sustainable animation by signing the \u201cStatement for European Sustainability Standards in Animation\u201d endorsement form. The statement was signed by over 120 organisations, including Animation Europe, Cartoon, Anim\u2019France, CEE Animation and Cartoon Italia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Development of the standards<\/strong>: a working group gathering stakeholders with expertise in sustainability, certification schemes and the animation industry, drafted the ANiMPACT standards, ensuring that they were environmentally ambitious, auditable and specific to the animation industry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ecoprod.com\/en\/animpact-standards-presented-at-cartoon-launching-public-consultation-until-3-may\/\">Public consultation:<\/a><\/strong> the aim was to gather feedback on the proposed standards before their finalisation, across three dimensions: clarity of the criteria, completeness of the framework, and feasibility of implementation in real production contexts. The consultation received 117 entries in total, from 18 countries.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This collaborative development phase resulted in a list of 30 criteria (47 when including different options), combining mandatory and voluntary measures. The criteria are applied at both project level, focusing on production-specific practices, and company level, targeting long-term operational strategies and infrastructure. Together, they cover seven key areas with both a focus on environmental and social sustainability :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Governance and CSR,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digital workflows and data management,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Energy and buildings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transportation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eating habits,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Merchandising,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and communication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>ANiMPACT now enters its pilot phase with strong and broad industry backing with the goal of testing the standards on real productions, to ensure their practical feasibility and auditability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-can-be-part-of-the-pilot-phase\"><strong>Who can be part of the pilot phase?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ANiMPACT is looking for 2D or 3D animated projects to take part in the pilot phase that meet the following requirement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Projects can be feature films, series, documentaries, short films or commercials in 2D and 3D animation of any length.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eligible projects must be completed, or at an advanced stage of production, by June 2027.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The company submitting a project should be the lead producer or studio and should be based in Europe. International coproductions are welcomed.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A dedicated contact person must be designated within the organisation. This person will be responsible for coordination, communication and follow-up throughout the process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies can apply for the pilot phase by contacting us. A company may submit one or several projects.&nbsp; Applications will be reviewed by Green Film, CineRegio and Ecoprod. We reserve the right to reject projects if they do not meet the necessary requirements for the pilot phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-does-it-entail-to-be-part-of-the-pilot-phase-nbsp\"><strong>What does it entail to be part of the pilot phase?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By joining the pilot phase, the participant agrees to test the ANiMPACT Standards in real production conditions. This implies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reviewing the standards and identifying which criteria can be applied within the project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implementing selected measures where relevant and feasible and collecting the according proof and supporting documents&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paying for and undergoing an audit by an independent third party chosen by Green Film and Ecoprod<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing structured feedback on clarity, feasibility and relevance of the standards and the audit process, thereby contributing to the improvement of the framework<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating productions will be recognised as pioneer productions and will receive a specific acknowledgment linked to this phase. Participation does not guarantee certification.
