On February 14th 2025, Ecoprod and Eurimages officially introduced StepUP, the first international e-learning platform dedicated to green film production. This project, developed by Ecoprod from a Eurimages initiative (Council of Europe), aims to provide film professionals with the necessary knowledge and tools to implement more sustainable practices in their productions.
A successful launch in Berlin
The launch event, organized as a part of the European Film Market, brought together industry professionals for a presentation by Adrien Roche et Alissa Aubenque. This event was a great opportunity to introduce the stakes of training professionals to sustainable production, as well as to unveil StepUP’s main features.
Among the various speakers, Els Hendrix and Susan Newman Baudais emphasized the importance of such a platform, while Ludovica Chiarini and Gregor Stitzl highlighted the specific challenges of international co-productions as well as the importance of encouraging a collaborative approach to succeed in the transition towards a greener film industry.
StepUP : a key resource for sustainable production
Tailored to answer the needs of professionals regardless of their level of expertise, StepUP has three main training approaches:
- An international resource center to better understand the practices and applicable regulations around the globe.
- A free e-learning course, funded by Eurimages (Council of Europe), which offers an introduction to the fundamentals of sustainable production.
- An advanced course intended for producers, funds, and film commissions, with a particular focus on international co-productions.
Accessible to all, StepUP aims to standardise access to green production knowledge and to foster a wider implementation of green practices within the film industry.
For those who were unable to attend the launch event in Berlin last week, we will host an introduction webinar on March 5th 2025. We will present the features of StepUP and answer any questions during a live Q&A session.
